Home is Where the Heart IS

NEW MURAL IS ON DISPLAY IN DOWNTOWN LAKE CHARLES

If you notice, there are 12 stripes in the bursting sun within the heart. We wanted 12 for the spiritual significance.

The number 12 represents the spiritual journey. It’s about relationships, cosmic order, the pursuit of peace, perfection and entirety.

The intention of the art is to bless those who commemorate their journey together with a picture of it. All love, even platonic is a soul journey. Relationships are our greatest teachers. They break us open to awaken us to deeper truths about ourselves. If we allow it, love is healing. Even when it hurts, it pushes us into a soul journey of evolution.

The waves signify the motion of the heart. Love has its way of flowing into you. When the energy of love is present it feels like pieces of the puzzle coming together so perfectly.

There are three drops of water signifying the Trinity that is Holy Union. In all love, there is two people and the spirit that unites.

It’s a spiritual blessing in color. It’s heart, true heart!

About The Project

In 2022, Jeremy Price, Award Winning Artist teamed up with Paige Vidrine, Award Winning Community Architect & Yoga Fest Host to Paint the town of Lake Charles, La. With their passion for art and community, the Art To Inspire Community Mural Project was born.

First, Paige asked Jeremy to paint the famous “Still I Rise” mural on the side of her restaurant, Buffis Peauxboys. Shortly after it went viral, they realized that the citizens of Lake Charles needed the art to bring them hope and inspiration after the devastating effects of Hurricane Laura. So, Paige applied for a 30k sweepstakes and won it. They used the funds to paint the largest murals in the city on Broad St in Downtown Lake Charles. In addition to the sweepstakes funds, the project gained support from many fabulous leaders throughout the city who sponsored the project. Once these Van Gogh murals were completed, Vidrine hosted the very first mural festival in the area celebrating cultural diversity and the arts.

In 2023, they teamed up again to complete another inspirational mural. “Home is Where the Heart Is” mural was an idea that came to Paige after her recent move to Ocean Springs, MS. As her heart is still in Lake Charles, she wanted to design something that signifies how much she loves the city and the people.
